Private company or engineer firm's bound oversized U.S. Geodetic Maps of California. Includes 368 maps from 1912-1918 at various scales with index at front. This is possibly the first series of the region at scale 1:62500 (from 1912). Other scales include 1:31680, 1:250000, and 1:125000. The back of each map includes information from the Director of United States Geological Survey, regarding “The Topographic Maps of the United States” with legends for culture (cemeteries, electric railroads, and ferries), relief, water, and woods (dated February, 1911). Also includes some modern maps. Oversized (17 ½” x 21”) and bound with metal clips in black boards with text in gold printed inlay. This fine collection of maps covers the region’s historical development during the first decades of the twentieth century and forward. Index is torn and/or folded. Index page 2 is detached from spine. Maps are in fine condition with only slight edge tearing and foxing. The covers are in excellent condition. This map book would be a fabulous addition to an existing collection, or it would be a great way to begin.
